Craig Hospital Has New Tool To Help The Paralyzed Walk Again
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Craig Hospital on Tuesday showed off a new tool helping paralyzed patients walk again.
John Supon showed off the Indego Exoskeleton Tuesday morning. He was paralyzed in an accident in 2006.
To use the exoskeleton, he simply leans forward and he can walk. When he stops leaning, the exoskeleton stops moving.
Supon says it's a life-changing experience.
"This sort of opens it up for going home and cooking my own meal while I'm standing up, or walking up a flight of stairs and going downstairs," Supon said.
Craig Hospital is the first of three rehabilitation centers to get the device as part of a clinical trial.
