Investigators think this is the second daytime burglary in the area where a homeowner walked in while it was taking place in less than a month.

The first happened in late September in the 9500 block of east 112th Drive.

On Monday morning the crime took place time on Hannibal Street.

David Read, the homeowner, had just come home from a quick trip to the store at 9:30 a.m. when he was greeted by an unwelcome surprise.

"I unlocked the front door, walked in and saw this wheelbarrow with a lot of my belongings sitting in it," he said.

He took a few steps inside and then yelled, wondering who was in his house.

"This guy was about halfway down the stairs and he says, 'Don't come in, I'll shoot, I'll shoot!' "

Read ran to his garage and called police. That's when the intruder ran off through the back yard and hopped a fence.

"He went bounding out the back window, across the neighbors yard and everything else," Read said.

Read says he discovered later that the robber broke in through a downstairs window and got away with some jewelry from the home.

"In the very beginning we didn't think anything was gone, but now we've found a couple of our rings and a necklace are missing," he said.

Read got a good look at the suspect, but he is confident the video above from his home security system will help investigators catch the intruder.

"I've got a birthday coming up, my 70th, I'd like to have that for a birthday present," he told CBS4.

Commerce City police said the robber had a gun. He was described as follows:

- White or Hispanic male
- Approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with a small, thin build
- Wearing a multicolored (dark over light) windbreaker or fleece type jacket, dark-colored pants, tennis shoes
- Black, neatly groomed hair

In the earlier burglary the suspect was described as:

- Hispanic male in his 30s or 40s
- Approximately 5-foot-8 with short brown hair
- Possibly driving or riding in a maroon or red SUV

Commerce City police say "if the suspect seen running is known to you, or you can provide any leads, please contact Detective Sgt. McGuire at (303)289-3650 or Detective Sgt. Rob McCoy at (303) 289-3643."
