CSU's 'Hollywood' Higgins Stars With Play, Attitude

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - On the CSU Rams' football team, there isn't a brighter star than the one in Hollywood.

That's Rashard "Hollywood" Higgins for anyone not paying close attention.

If you were, you'd know Higgins is one of two receivers in the nation who have 10 touchdowns this season. The other is Colorado's Nelson Spruce.

Higgins -- who earned that super-star moniker while playing in pee-wee football -- is tied for first in the nation in touchdown catches, is third in receiving yards with 776 and second with 129 yards per game.

No one is more appreciative than his quarterback, Garrett Grayson.

"His football IQ is very high," Grayson said. "He knows defenses. He knows holes in coverages. He doesn't get himself covered. He creates space for himself."

Higgins, a sophomore, says he's grown and learned a lot from his first season.

"My freshman year, I only knew what I was supposed to do. But now I can tell other freshman where to line up and where to run. That's just part of growing," Higgins said.

Despite his glamorous nickname, he's not a diva, coach Jim McElwain says.

"He's one of the hardest working guys we have. He blocks tremendously down field and plays the game with a vigor and a passion," he said.
