Man Guilty In Stun Gun Assault On The Run

DENVER (CBS4)- A man accused of using a stun gun to kidnap and assault a young woman has been found guilty in the case but the convicted felon didn't hear the jury's verdict because he left court during a break and never returned.

Clifton Williams was found guilty of second-degree kidnapping, attempted sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact and third-degree assault.

The charges allege that in the early morning hours of July 24, 2011, Williams, 40, attacked and kidnapped a 27-year-old woman in the 2200 block of South Broadway using a stun gun.

The victim had been walking home when she was grabbed from behind and attacked. She managed to escape and flagged down a passing car for help.

Williams was identified as a suspect through a Crime Stoppers tip and was arrested several days later in Castle Rock.

He has been out of custody on bond but failed to return Tuesday when court resumed after lunch. The jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Anyone with information about Williams' whereabouts should call their local law enforcement agency or contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP(7867) or text: DMCS plus your message to 274637.
