Colorado Skateboarders Claim Company Makes False Promises

DENVER (CBS4)- Skateboarders across Colorado are frustrated with an online skateboard company they claim makes false promises, takes money and offers nothing in return. It's not just happening to skateboarders in Colorado but across the U.S.

Shamus Miller is a 19-year-old who considers skateboarding his hobby.

"If I could marry four wheels and a board I'd do it," said Miller.

He doesn't look like a professional skateboarder but has aspirations like any dedicated athlete.

"I don't know if I'm that good," said Miller.

365skateboards.com emailed Miller and offered him a sponsorship. He was thrilled.

"I got an email, 'We'd like to sponsor you. You've got to order product in the next six days if you want to be sponsored,'" said Miller.

Miller ordered a board for $52 but received nothing in return.

"I either want my money back or my board," said Miller.

Miller said there was an exchange of emails between him and the company. He soon found himself posted on the website's Wall of Shame.

"It's got my address, my number, my email," said Miller.

365skateboards.com customer Lori Skoglund is also on the wall of shame.

"It was just over $50," said Skoglund.

She received a skateboard from the site but not the one she had ordered for her son.

"I was really surprised when we didn't get the right product and it wasn't the right size so he couldn't even use it," said Skoglund. "Right away the vendor said they didn't want to give us a refund because they thought I was trying to get a product for free."

Skoglund's personal information is on the company's Wall of Shame. She said what is shameful is a company she believes is taking advantage of kids.

"That's scary and that's not right," said Skoglund.

Professional Skateboarder Dave Davis said no one should have to pay to be sponsored, "I've been sponsored for 12 years and I've never paid one of my sponsors."

CBS4 reached out to 365skateboards.com but received no response.
