According to police, an officer on Auraria Campus witnessed the hit-and-run. A short chase began, which ended when the suspect ran a red light and was hit by another car, a Nissan sedan, at the intersection of South Broadway and 14th Avenue.

Police said the passenger in the suspect's car tried to run away but was caught near the Denver Library.

"One of the suspects actually ran from the scene and went over towards the library where he was apprehended," Ron Hackett with Denver police said.

The suspect driver was arrested inside the car.

"The driver was actually lodged in the vehicle and couldn't move," Hackett said.
