Road Work At I-25 & 6th To Stretch Into The Fall
DENVER (CBS4) - The summer road work season is stretching into the fall and right now a major project underway along Interstate 25 and 6th Avenue is starting to aggravate commuters.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is hearing complaints from drivers -- sometimes through inappropriate hand gestures.
"Yeah, sometimes we get waves and such, but for the most part people understand, even though they're frustrated, that this work needs to happen and they definitely let us know about it," CDOT spokeswoman Emily Wilfong said.
There will be multiple lanes closures on I-25 north and south from 8th Avenue to I-76. It will happen from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Using Federal Boulevard at night might work while CDOT crews will be striping newly configured lanes on the highway.
"A lot more safety in terms of not weaving and having a straighter shot through that area," Wilfong said.
On Highway 6, six bridges are in various stages of improvement.
"We know this work impacts folks, so that's why we try to do it at night and try to have as minimal of an impact as possible while we try to make these necessary improvements," Wilfong said.
The project is expected to continue until August of 2015.
