There's Still Time To Train For The 5K & 10K

DENVER (CBS4) The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 is four weeks away, but it's not too late to get involved.

"Training wise you still have time to get ready, that's the main thing," said two-time Olympian Alan Culpepper.

Culpepper says that this year, the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 are offering options like the 5K and 10K, which require less training to get ready for.

"For those training for the half and full marathons, you still have a couple more weeks before you start your taper to freshen up for race day," Culpepper said.

He warns against trying to sneak in a long run during the taper time.

"The cumulative fatigue will override the long run benefit," Culpepper said.

The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 is Sunday, October 19th at 7:15 a.m. at Civic Center Park.
