Woman Accused Of Shooting At Officer In Pueblo Found Dead

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — Authorities in the Pueblo area say a woman accused of firing a gun at an off-duty police officer has been found dead after a 12-hour long manhunt.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says the officer, still in uniform but not in a police cruiser, pursued Christina Furber, 26, Monday night in Pueblo West because she was driving erratically. The officer followed the vehicle to a home on Wild Wind Place. Once at the house, investigators say there was an altercation between officer and suspect.

During the struggle Furber allegedly pulled a large caliber revolver from her purse and fired at the officer. The officer fired too and Furber fled.

The officer wasn't shot and Furber isn't believed to have been wounded either.

The manhunt ended at a home down the block from the shooting where deputies say Furber's body was found inside a car parked in a garage. Authorities have not said how she died.

Authorities said Furber faced charges of attempted murder of a peace officer.
