Former Grand Junction Fire Chief Found Dead In Gunnison River

WHITEWATER, Colo. (CBS4) – The body of a former Grand Junction Fire Department chief was found in the Gunnison River on Friday.

Rick Beaty's body was found near the area he was last seen in the water southeast of Whitewater.

The 59-year-old was reported missing earlier in the week after jumping into the river without a life jacket.

The manner of death has not been released but investigators don't suspect foul play.
