Fort Carson To Welcome Home About 150 Soldiers
FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) — Fort Carson is set to welcome home about 150 soldiers who have spent the past six months serving in Afghanistan.
The soldiers with the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, were deployed in March to train, assist and advise Afghan security forces. They helped set the security conditions for Afghanistan's presidential and runoff elections.
The soldiers were originally supposed to be deployed for nine months but are returning early as part of the phased reduction of troops in Afghanistan.
The homecoming ceremony will be held at the Special Events Center on post at 8 p.m. Saturday.
