3 Arrested In Fast Food Protest Released From Jail
DENVER (CBS4)- The three people arrested in a demonstration near Denver on Thursday were released from jail on bond.
The protest was one of many in cities across the country to draw attention to the low wages of fast food workers. Dozens demonstrated outside a downtown Denver McDonald's restaurant.
Protesters demanded a $15/hour wage and union rights.
McDonald's issued a statement claiming some protesters were paid up to $500 to take part and get arrested.
Those taken into custody in Denver for blocking Colfax Avenue scoffed at that claim.
When asked if he was paid, Rev. Patrick Demmer replied, "Absolutely not. I didn't get one single dime."
"It hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean, that is more than my paycheck," said protester Christian Medina.
"I have no knowledge of that and I can't imagine why that would be a benefit to the movement at all," said protester Tucker Plumlee.
