FBI Investigating Prank Colorado SWAT Call

LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) – Federal authorities are helping investigate a prank that spawned a SWAT response in Littleton last week.

Authorities say someone called 911 saying he had shot two co-workers and was holding hostages at an office building, but police found no evidence of a shooting.

Dave Joly, a spokesman for the FBI’s Denver office, said Tuesday that police sought the help of specially trained agents who investigate cyber-crimes like the Aug. 27 “swatting” incident in Littleton, Colorado.

An online video purporting to have captured the incident shows a man sitting before his computer as SWAT officers enter the room with weapons drawn.

The U.S. Secret Service is also involved in the case.

Joly says authorities have no suspects but are investigating whether the prankster is outside the state or country.
