Two Teens Killed In Single-Car Wreck In El Paso County

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - An early-morning car accident killed two teenage passengers. The driver, a 17-year-old from Parker, has been arrested.

Beau Begier, 17, and Ryan Pappas, 18, of Monument died. A third passenger, a 17-year-old male from Monument, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The 17-year-old driver was wearing his seatbelt and suffered minor injuries, the Colorado State Patrol said. The car was a 2009 Cooper Mini convertible.

The accident happened at approximately 1 a.m. on East Baptist Assembly Road. The driver, the state patrol said, failed to stop at a stop sign at Roller Coaster Road and lost control of the car. The car entered a ditch and then hit trees.

Begier, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle when it struck some trees. Pappas was wearing his, but he died from his injuries at the scene.

The state patrol said it believes alcohol and speeding contributed to the accident. The driver could face vehicular homicide and several lesser charges, the state patrol said.
