Van Dyken-Rouen Takes Next Step In Rehab

DENVER (AP) — Injured Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen has posted videos on social media of herself taking steps with the help of a walker and a bionic exoskeleton device.

Van Dyken-Rouen posted the videos on Instagram on Thursday, two months after severing her spine in an ATV accident.

"Here it is...I'm WALKING!!! #onestepatatime #itcouldhappen," she wrote in one post.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist said she had no feeling in her legs and feet immediately after being injured in Arizona on June 6, but later was able to feel sporadic movement below her belly button.

The 41-year-old Van Dyken-Rouen was released from a Colorado hospital last week, saying she felt "1,000 times better" than when she was first injured.
