Colorado Unemployment Rate Drops To 5.3 Percent

DENVER (AP) — More Coloradans are finding jobs.

The state jobs report released Monday says Colorado added 5,500 non-farm jobs in July, pushing the unemployment rate down slightly to 5.3 percent. It was the 33rd straight month of job gains in the state.

Colorado's jobless rate hasn't been that low since October 2008, following the start of the recession.

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment says the largest job gains were in education and health services, construction and professional and business services. The leisure and hospitality sector lost the most jobs.
