‘Last Call Lot’ Aimed At Preventing DUIs

DENVER (CBS4) РThe state of Colorado is hoping to dissuade drunk driving by providing a free parking lot and free rides to those unable to get home safely.

Over the next three Fridays, the Colorado Department of Transportation¬†will rent out what it’s calling the “Last Call Lot” at 21st and Larimer streets. Drivers can park in one of 30 free spots from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. Lyft, a rideshare company, will offer free rides home. There’s a morning-after bonus, too: coupons to area breakfast spots.

CDOT said security will guard the cars overnight.

The program is part of a larger campaign to prevent drunk driving in August. Law enforcement made more than 1,300 DUI arrests last year over the Labor Day weekend.
