Colorado State Patrol Honors 4 For Brave Deeds

DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado State Patrol honored four of its troopers who stood out in the line of duty recently -- whether they rescued a citizen, saved the life of one of their own or apprehended  criminals.

The troopers were honored at the governor's residence in Denver on Thursday.

The four awarded the Citizens Appreciate State Troopers honor were:

* Trooper Shane Gosnell, who saved the life of fellow Trooper Gene Hofacker after he was attacked on Interstate 70 in May by a convicted killer armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

* Trooper Joseph Mack, who captured armed robbers following a 100 mph car chase.

* Technician Garth Crowther and Trooper Brent Gilleland, who, during a blizzard on Feb. 9, 2013, risked multiple trips down a steep 150-foot embankment at Cumbres/La Manga pass to save a car-crash victim with severe hypothermia.
