Moderate Job Growth Ahead For Colorado, Forecast Says

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The University of Colorado business school is predicting moderate job growth in the state for the rest of the year.

The Leeds School of Business forecast released Friday was based on business registration data from the Secretary of State's Office.

Nearly 25,000 new businesses filed with the secretary of state in the second quarter of this year. That was a decrease from the previous quarter but an increase over the same quarter in 2013.

More than 98,000 existing businesses renewed their registration in the second quarter of 2014, an increase of nearly 4 percent from the same period a year earlier.

The number of businesses registered in good standing with the secretary of state was nearly 539,000 in the second quarter, up 5 percent from the previous year.
