Police Corner Suspected Senior Citizen Bank Robber

DENVER (CBS4)– Police in Denver cornered a suspected bank robber several hours after he targeted a bank and took off with the cash. The suspected bank robber is 68 years old.

John Martinez is suspected of walking into the Wells Fargo at 38th and Pecos just after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Martinez, 68, was described to police as a senior man with gray hair about 6-feet tall.

Police caught up with him at the Ramada at 26th and Zuni, about a mile away from the Wells Fargo bank.

Martinez was taken into custody about seven hours after he robbed the bank. He is being held on investigation of aggravated robbery.

It’s unclear what led officers to the motel to make the arrest.
