Monroe To Seek Flights To Denver
MONROE, La. (AP) — The Monroe City Council has passed a resolution allowing a grant application city officials believe can help the airport secure direct flights to Denver.
The News-Star reports Monroe is offering United Airlines $100,000 from the mayor's economic development fund and waiving $50,000 in landing fees if they open a direct flight from Monroe to Denver. The Denver International Airport is offering $400,000 to the airline.
If the city is awarded the $500,000 grant, it could put that money toward the incentive package, bringing the total to $1.05 million.
A direct flight to Denver would benefit workers and families from CenturyLink based in Monroe, who travel to the mile high city.
