Union Station Gala Raises $1 Million For Local Charities

DENVER (CBS4) - The Great Hall Gala on Friday -- part of the kickoff for the reopening of Union Station in two weeks -- raised more than $1 million for 50 local charities.

Walter Isenberg, the CEO of Sage Hospitality, told CBS4 that residents should expect more activities and pleasant "surprises" over the next two weeks.

"We are so proud and, frankly, humbled to have been given the honor to bring this amazing gem back to life," Isenberg said.

Union Station will reopen on July 26 during a public celebration that will include bands and food trucks. Streets around the station, at 17th and Wynkoop streets, will be closed.

Everything connected to the project -- the hotel, art, restaurants and other amenities -- has a Colorado bent.

The Crawford Hotel at Union Station is named for Dana Crawford, who pioneered the redevelopment of Larimer Square in the 1960s.
