Gary Harris, Brandon Jefferson Eager To Start Nuggets' Summer League

DENVER (CBS4) - Members of the Denver Nuggets summer league squad were practicing Tuesday, including top pick Gary Harris.

One observation is Harris can shoot. He made the first seven 3-pointers he took in a shooting drill and looks like a natural from behind the NBA 3-point line.

"I'm still trying to work on that, just get adjusted to that 3-point line and just get as many reps as possible," Harris said.

Harris said at first it wasn't a big adjustment.

"But once you get tired is when you really start to feel it, so just trying to shoot while you're fatigued," he said.

Harris and Quincy Miller will headline this year's summer league team. But the Nuggets will also be keeping their eye on Metro State's University's Brandon Jefferson. He led the Roadrunners in scoring last year and can't wait to run with the Nuggets in summer league.

"It's going to be a transition but I can do it. At the next level they're not going to need me to score all the time," Jefferson said. "I'm going to like it a lot, just pick it up on defense, give it to Quincy, Carlon Brown … it's going to be good."

The Nuggets begin summer league play this Saturday in Las Vegas. Assistant coach Patrick Mutombo will coach the squad.
