Tractor Dangling From Bridge Removed Nearly 1 Week Later
MOFFAT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A tractor that fell through a suspension bridge nearly a week ago has finally been removed.
The tractor weighed about four times the bridge's weight limit when the rancher tried to drive it across. That's when the tractor broke through the wooden planks and was hanging by its front tires.
The bridge is in the Browns Park Wildlife Refuge and gives access to recreation areas. It's rated for about three tons while the tractor actually weighs between 10 and 13 tons.
The rancher had to complete a lot of work to shore up the boards on the bridge to get the tractor moving along to the other side.
The bridge will remain closed until engineers can inspect it and make additional repairs.
