DENVER (CBS4)- The Dallas Police Department made a correction early Sunday morning that Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was not arrested. Instead it was Talib’s brother, Yaqub Talib, who was arrested.

Dallas Police Maj. Max Geron tweeted out an apology to Aqib after reports from the Dallas Police Department that the cornerback had been arrested at a Dallas nightclub for public intoxication.

It seems that it was Aqib’s brother, Yaqub Talib, 31, who actually was arrested.

Most recently, Aqib is remembered for being knocked out of AFC Championship game with the New England Patriots, when Wes Welker, another former Patriots player, took him out on a pick play at the line of scrimmage in the second quarter. Talib went to the locker room with a bruised knee and didn’t return.

Talib signed a six-year, $57 million free agent deal with Denver earlier this spring.

Aqib was also chosen as one of the NFL’s top 100 players of 2013.

Denver Broncos Exec. Dir. of Media Relations Patrick Smyth tweeted out soon after that he had spoken to Aqib on the phone and that he was at home and had not been arrested.

Before coming to the Broncos, Aqib earned his first career Pro Bowl selection with the Patriots in 2013 after recording 44 tackles (35 solo), four interceptions (12 yds.), 13 passes defensed and one forced fumble. Acquired by New England in a Trade with Tampa Bay midway through the 2012 season, Talib ranks seventh in the NFL with 19 interceptions and is tied for fourth in the league with four interceptions returned for touchdowns since 2009.
