Inmate Captured After Escaping From Truck Stop In Wheat Ridge

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have captured an inmate who escaped from custody in Wheat Ridge Friday morning.

Turhan Robinson, 37, is a suspect in a drug-related robbery and murder in Madison County, Illinois, according to police.

Robinson was being transported by a private inmate transport company from Las Vegas to Illinois when he got away at the T.A. truck stop on the 12100 block West 44th Avenue, near Interstate 70 and Ward Road.

Robinson was handcuffed and shackled on his left leg when he ran off during a bathroom break.

He was caught in a cemetary at 44th Avenue and Youngfield Street after a woman walking her dog spotted him and contacted police.

He had partially broken his shackles when he was captured.

Police said they will investigate to see if Robinson committed any other crimes after escaping from custody.
