Xcel Energy Files With Public Utilities Commission To Raise Rates

DENVER (CBS4) – Bills could be going up for Xcel Energy customers.

Xcel says it needs to boost prices to upgrade infrastructure and plants, which they say will result in cleaner air.

Xcel filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission on Monday to support the increase.

If approved, homeowners should expect a 5 percent bump in their bills starting early next year -- an average of $3 or $4 a month.
