BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – “Shrek The Musical” is the biggest and most expensive production Boulder’s Dinner Theatre has ever staged.
There are certainly similarities to the movies, but the show has a lot of memorable touches that are different and fun.
It works on many levels, according to Critic at Large Greg Moody.
“The great thing about this is even with the costumes, lighting, huge cast and outrageous effects, the show retains its humanity — well, it’s ‘ogre-anity,’ ” said Moody.
Moody says the cast does a great job of showing of the “sweet and the crude” in the characters, and that the puppeteers behind the dragon, created by Cory Gilstrap, are amazing.
He also says the show is great to bring the whole family to, with jokes that work for children and adults.
The cast of “Shrek The Musical” includes impressive work by leads Seth Caikowski as Shrek, Tyrell Rae as Donkey and Norelle Moore as Princess Fiona.
The show runs through Sept. 6.
