2 Arrested After Hash Oil Explosion At Home With Child Inside

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – Two people are facing arson and child abuse charges after police say there was a hash oil explosion inside their Manitou Springs apartment.

When officers arrived on the scene they found several windows blown out along with a scene of destruction, the refrigerator door blown off and broken into two pieces, food, clothing and broken furniture littered the floor.

A 3-year-old girl was inside the apartment when the explosion happened along with two adults, Michael Austin, 18 and Audrey Harowitz, 23.

Neither she nor the two adults were hurt but neighbors said they were shocked by what happened.

"I woke up this morning there was glass outside my window. It looked like a murder scene. All the doors blown out. It was a loud explosion. The whole thing, it shook both houses," said a neighbor.

The Austin and Harowitz told police they were asleep when the explosion happened. They are facing reckless endangerment charges in addition to child abuse and arson charges.
