Burglars Hit Gun Store In Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) – The search is on for stolen weapons after burglars robbed a gun store in Castle Rock.

Surveillance video shows the thieves who got away with thousands of dollars worth of rifles.

Police say the thieves were only there for about five minutes. They broke in through a window, grabbed what they could and made their getaway.

"Any security system that any business has is defeatable," said a Castle Rock Police spokesman.

Despite iron bars, surveillance cameras and alarms the two men made their way into the DCF gun store around midnight on Thursday.

"Went through some offices, grabbed several weapons," said the spokesman.

Castle Rock Police say the pair stole more than $5,000 worth of semi-automatic sporting rifles and other goods. Investigators won't say what else was taken.

"We're concerned. We don't want those firearms to get into the wrong hands," said the spokesman.

Though video captured the thieves in action it is tough for authorities to identify the suspects.

"We have no idea who they are but they're two white males in their twenties, early thirties," said the spokesman.

Police are hoping to get a better description of the subjects after they review additional surveillance tapes.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to please call Castle Rock police.
