Denver Police Search For Suspects In Grow House Burglary

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police are trying to track down the suspects who stole $12,000 worth of marijuana plants.

Police released surveillance pictures from the Chronic Therapy grow house on Claude Court just south of Interstate 70 and York Street.

Denver police says this could be the first Crime Stoppers alert they've seen for the theft of marijuana plants.

They say it's a crime like any other and they hope someone recognizes the suspects.

Behind windows boarded up with steel and the heavily gated doors of a white home, a legitimate marijuana grow house is in full scale operation.

While it's easy to overlook, someone knew what was inside.

The surveillance video shows two men breaking in to the grow house last month.

They proceeded to push the pot plants out of the window, the owner says 25 in all.

"We take this like any other crime that goes on, we have to respect the laws in the city and county of Denver and we have to protect the rights of those people who have invested in that business," said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

At least two men broke into the grow house on April 23 and stole a large amount of plants.

Despite their faces clearly captured on camera, at some point on man does try to disguise himself by pulling his shirt up over his head.

The other suspect eventually covers up the camera lens.

Another angle from outside the home shows the suspects using a crow bar to try to force their way in through another window.

The owner says the property is monitored by a security company but by the time the thieves tripped the alarm they were already on their way out.

The stolen plants might never be recovered but the suspects will still face charges.

"They may not get the value back of the plants but these individuals need to face justice for the crime they committed," said Jackson.
