Colorado Kicks Off Summer Tourism Season

DENVER (CBS4) – Monday marked the start of national tourism week and here in Colorado the state is kicking off its summer tourism season.

On Tuesday Colorado companies and mascots gathered on the steps of the capitol. Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy even brought some of its goats to the event.

Last summer's tourism campaign brought in close to $2 billion for the state.

Gov. John Hickenlooper hopes to break that record this summer.

"I think we're going to have a great year ahead. And our focus now is to just make sure we keep the momentum," said Hickenlooper.

Besides bringing in money, Colorado's tourism industry creates 145,000 jobs in the state.
