Denver Jury Convicts Man Of Killing Wife
DENVER (AP) — A Denver jury has convicted a man of kidnapping and killing his wife.
The Denver District Attorney's Office says Christopher Perea was found guilty Friday of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of 44-year-old Loretta Barela.
Police and paramedics found Barela's body after they were called to a home in southwest Denver on Nov. 18, 2012. An officer had responded to a domestic violence report at the same address a few hours earlier.
A sentencing date has not been scheduled because Perea is set to go to trial in June on a habitual criminal charge.
