Teen Investigated For Possible Facebook Threat Against Lakewood High School

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Lakewood investigated a possible threat that was made by a teen on Facebook against Lakewood High School.

According to police, a 17-year-old made comments on Facebook on Thursday that could be interpreted as being threatening toward the school.

The teen admitted to making the post but denied any intention of carrying out a threat against the school, stating "blowing off steam."

The investigation found no evidence of any plan or intent to carry out a threat against Lakewood High School.

During the initial investigation the school was on lock-out status for about 20 minutes.

Police said they take all threats seriously and whether a person intends to carry out a threat those comments can be interpreted as a criminal act.

Based on the post the teen was taken into custody pending charges that may include interference with staff, faculty or students of educational institutions.

He was held at the Mt. View Juvenile Detention Facility.
