Peyton Manning Celebrates Student Athletes At 'Salute The Stars' Awards

DENVER (CBS4)- Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning teamed up with former Broncos and Pro Bowl safety John Lynch to honor student athletes at the 16th annual Salute the Stars awards.

Peyton was the keynote speaker at the Salute the Stars awards luncheon which honors the Denver area's brightest young student athletes with and without disabilities.

All the athletes excel in academics, athletics and community involvement.

The following awards were presented at the luncheon at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Friday:

  • Five (5) $5,000 Exceptional Star of the Year Awards presented to student-athletes with physical disabilities and Down syndrome
  • One (1) $1,000  Coach of the Year Award
  • Four (4) $15,000 Lynch Family Legacy Scholarships
  • Four (4) Star of the Year Awards

The John Lynch Foundation hosted the scholarship luncheon. More than $86,000 was awarded in scholarships and awards to Denver-area student athletes.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock joined John and Linda Lynch, and Manning along with more than 2,000 Denver area student athletes with and without disabilities.
