Columbine High Principal Honored With Lifetime Service Award
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Columbine High School Principal Frank DeAngelis was honored with Lifetime Service Award.
The Jefferson County School Foundation presented DeAngelis the award.
DeAngelis has spent 35 years in public education, 18 of those at Columbine High where he led the community through the trauma of the shootings 15 years ago.
When asked why he stayed after the tragedy, DeAngelis said it was in part because he made a promise to that freshman class he would be there for them when they graduated– that was in 2003.
DeAngelis said he won’t give up his key to the school because he plans to stay involved.
