Passenger Pulled Emergency Brake Causing Serious Crash

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Two people were seriously injured in a rollover crash in Aurora on Sunday afternoon. Police believe the passenger of the car pulled the emergency brake while the driver was speeding.

The accident happened near Buckely and Evans just after noon.

Police said the red sedan lost control and hit the median then rolled three times before finally coming to a stop.

The female driver was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle rolled over her. She and a male passenger were rushed to the hospital.

Investigators said the two were arguing when the male passenger pulled the emergency brake while the driver was speeding. Neither was wearing their seatbelts.

That man has been charged with first-degree assault, violation of a protection order and reckless endangerment.

Witnesses told investigators the driver of that car may have been speeding. Police are also investigating whether alcohol was involved.
