Rockies Fans Celebrate Home Opener

DENVER (CBS4) – Once fans made their way inside Coors Field it was all about baseball, but outside the stadium it was all about the celebration for the Rockies home opener on Friday.

"I love it! This is the first time we've been able to come to the opener, so yay," said a fan.

Hundreds of fans decked out in their best Rockies attire showed up for the big game.

"I've been doing this seven or eight years now. and each year i add something new," said one fan.

They poured into lower downtown Denver to be part of the festivities.

Tom Kumiski and his son Connor haven't missed a home opener in eight years and they plan to keep the tradition going.

"We're not going to miss a year," said Tom.

Despite a few bumpy seasons in the past, Rockies fans say the best thing about the home opener is starting over.

"It's a fresh, brand new season. Everyone is full of hope out here," said a fan.

Fans say the festivities combined with the win against the Arizona Diamondbacks made for a perfect home opener.
