Grand Junction Police Investigate Hash Oil Explosion
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Grand Junction police are investigating the second suspected hash oil explosion this month.
The Daily Sentinel reported Friday that after a neighbor noticed PVC pipe burning in a yard this week and found no one home, emergency personnel were called. They found smoke, a small fire and evidence a butane explosion had damaged walls. A man who lives at the home was later found injured at a hospital.
Earlier this month, police had reported an explosion linked to hash oil at a Grand Junction motel.
Hash oil is made by using butane to extract the psychoactive chemical THC from marijuana, producing a potent concentrate. Colorado and other states around the country have seen a rash of explosions linked to hash oil production in homes.
