JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)– The search is over for a prisoner released by mistake from the Jefferson County Jail.
Damon Elliot Slayton was arrested Thursday morning at Broadway and Larimer in Denver by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. He was returned to the Jeffco jail.
Slayton, 41, had been free since Tuesday morning after spending nearly five weeks in jail. He got out because of what appears to be a clerical error.
Slayton has a long criminal history, including burglary and robbery.
The Department of Corrections rescinded his parole, meaning he was supposed to go back to prison, not back into the public.
