Colorado Astronaut Waits To Blast Off For Space Station

DENVER (AP) — An astronaut from Colorado will have to wait until Thursday before reaching the International Space Station.

A rocket carrying Steve Swanson and two Russian cosmonauts blasted off successfully Wednesday from Kazakhstan but an engine snag has delayed its arrival at the space station.

NASA and Russia's space agency said shortly before the planned docking that the arrival had been delayed after a 24-second engine burn that was necessary to adjust the Soyuz spacecraft's orbiting path.

Swanson, who is making his third trip to space, grew up in Steamboat Springs and graduated from the University of Colorado. He lives in Houston with his wife Mary and their three children.
