More Arguments Filed Over James Holmes' Sanity

DENVER (AP) - Attorneys in the Colorado theater shooting case have filed another round of arguments over whether defendant James Holmes should undergo a second sanity evaluation, but like the preceding arguments, they haven't been made public.

The judge ruled Monday that the new motions filed by prosecutors Friday will be kept secret.

Holmes pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in a suburban Denver movie theater in 2012. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Holmes underwent a sanity evaluation last summer. The key findings haven't been made public, but the judge ruled it was inadequate and ordered a second.

The defense objected, saying the judge misinterpreted the law. The judge has put the second evaluation on hold while the objections are resolved.
