Udall Says Family Has Benefited From Health Law

DENVER (AP) — U.S. Sen. Mark Udall says his family has benefited from the Affordable Care Act.

The Colorado Democrat says the law let his 23-year-old daughter stay on the family health plan, and this year he saved money by buying insurance on the state health exchange.

Udall made the statement Thursday as runs for re-election and is under attack in ads by a conservative group for voting for the law in 2009.

The senator says the law is not perfect but does provide a net benefit. He supports fixing it rather than repealing it.

His Republican challenger, Rep. Cory Gardner, says his family's health plan was cancelled last year because of the Affordable Care Act, and he had to buy a more expensive policy.
