GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A man was found guilty of killing his roommate was immediately sentenced to life in prison in the Jefferson County Justice Center on Friday. Jurors convicted Ryan Hicks, 34, of killing his roommate David Noren, 49.
Court documents indicate Hicks robbed Noren and then killed him in May 2013, and also used Noren's identity.
Noren disappeared May 19, 2013. His body was found later in Clear Creek County.
Hicks was found guilty on all counts including: first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree felony murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft, five counts of identity theft, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Hicks was sentenced to the maximum on all counts including life in prison for the two counts of murder. While the judge imposed the maximum on all other counts she ordered them to be served concurrently, or back-to-back, so he was essentially sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Hicks has a long criminal history, including convictions for robbery, fleeing from law enforcement and second-degree assault.
