Denver Police Spokesman Apologizes For Nude Photos

DENVER (AP) — A longtime spokesman for the Denver Police Department has been suspended without pay for keeping nude photos of women on his department-issued phone.

Officer John White, a 15-year-veteran of the department, said Wednesday he believes the discipline is justified. He says the photos were of "nude and partially nude adult females."

White says in an email that he did not take the photos but accepts responsibility for them. He also says he will no longer be able to serve as the department's spokesman or its legislative liaison. White was transferred to a new job patrolling Denver International Airport earlier this month during an investigation into his conduct.

White apologized to the community and said "I deeply regret any hurt or embarrassment my actions may have caused."
