Climber Falls 100 Feet In Eldorado Canyon

ELDORADO CANYON, Colo. (CBS4) – A 19-year-old climber in Eldorado Canyon was badly injured on Wednesday when he fell 100 feet from a cliff.

The man was climbing at approximately 7:40 p.m at Eldorado Canyon State Park with another climber when he fell.

Crews from the Boulder County Sheriff's Offices and Rocky Mountain Rescue arrived on the scene about 20 minutes later after receiving a 911 call.

The injured climber was taken away in an ambulance before later being airlifted to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.

"He was definitely semi-conscious, he was talking a bit. He was definitely pretty seriously injured. I couldn't tell what the fall looked like but it looked like a pretty good fall," said Ted Krieger from Rocky Mountain Rescue.

The man has several broken bones but his injuries were described as being non-life threatening.
