Colorado Ski Resorts Report Bustling Season

DENVER (AP) - Colorado ski resorts are reporting a surge in visits in January and February, thanks to consistent snowfall and more positive economic news.

The trade group Colorado Ski Country USA said Monday that skier visits at its 21 member resorts in January and February were up 8.6 percent from the same period a year earlier. Since the beginning of the season through February, those resorts saw a 13 percent increase in visitation compared to the same time period last season.

The trade group's figures do not include the four ski areas run by Vail Resorts Inc.

The Denver Post reports Vail Resorts released figures last week showing visitation was up 11.9 percent through January at its Colorado ski areas, which include the two busiest in the state: Vail and Breckenridge.
