Gunman Forces Medical Campus To Be Placed On Lockdown

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Aurora are searching for a gunman that caused the Anschutz Medical Campus to be placed on lockdown.

Aurora South Medical Center and Children's Hospital were told about the gunman but did not go on lockdown.

Police say the man walked first walked into the Comfort Inn on 32nd and Airport Road and waited for a victim on the second floor.

"A male subject had confronted a female in the hallway with the shotgun and had demanded money. When she told him she that she did not have any money, he actually apologized and then left the hotel," said Sgt. Chris Amsler from the Aurora Police Department.

The gunman was later spotted at the Springhill Suites but then disappeared.

He's described as a white male that is six feet tall, around 150 pounds anywhere between 30 to 50 years old with salt and pepper hair, wearing a black hoodie with blue jeans.

Police are still looking for him and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
