Denver Jail Suicide Prompts Search In Illinois

DENVER (AP) - Authorities in Illinois are searching for the body of a missing pipeline worker after a man arrested in Colorado told investigators the man was dead before apparently hanging himself.

The U.S. Marshal's Service announced Monday that a man questioned in an out-of-state case Sunday had apparently killed himself while being held in a cell but officials declined to release any other details.

Deputy Chief Eric Lenardt of the McDonough County Sheriff's Office confirmed he was 45-year-old Jose Bustos-Bravo and said he confessed to his role in the disappearance of 65-year-old co-worker Juan A. Bustamante. He said Bustos-Bravo also said where his body might be found.

Bustos-Bravo and Bustamonte both were reported missing Thursday in Macomb, Ill. by their roommate.

Lenardt said investigators don't have a motive yet.
