Denver Man Accused Of Child Abuse Resulting In Death

DENVER (CBS4) – A Denver man has been formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with a child abuse death.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney’s office, Quinton Stanley, 25, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of child abuse resulting in death for the incident that occurred last Saturday.

“Denver police responded to a home in the 3800 block of Peoria Street on a report of a child not breathing,” Kimbrough said in a statement. “The victim, identified as 2-year-old Kemet Smith, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

Kimbrough said Stanley was allegedly caring for the child, “who suffered multiple head injuries and died from drowning.”

Smith was the son of Stanley’s girlfriend.
